| Report on large-scale energy retrofits for US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). | This document is a summary report from USA partners to the Department of Housing and Urban Development on retrofitting the HUD's housing stock to sustainable energy sources.
The current HUD mission is to: “Increase home ownership, support community development, and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination.” 4 The recommendations in this report directly address two of the three strategic imperatives in this mission:
- Energy efficiency and retrofit improvements in housing reduce energy and maintenance costs, therefore increasing affordability.
- Development of a national building energy efficiency retrofit market would increase household disposable incomes through reduced energy costs, create jobs, and spawn new businesses, therefore contributing significantly to community development.
